Bethlehem's Church of the Nativity, built over the site Christians believe to be the birthplace of Jesus, is one of the oldest churches still in use and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city is surrounded on several sides by the separation wall and settlements, which have made daily life and tourism far harder.

Taybeh and the villages

Taybeh, north-east of Ramallah, is the last all-Christian Palestinian town in the West Bank, known for its olive groves and a family-run brewery. This summer it was the target of repeated settler attacks, drawing international concern.

Gaza's churches

Gaza is home to a small but ancient Christian community, centred on the Church of Saint Porphyrius, one of the oldest churches in the world still in use, and the Holy Family Catholic Church. Both sheltered displaced families during the war.
